There is major trouble
a-brewing on the Internet for ezine publishers. Please help us stop
Habeas from railroading our endeavors. Here is a letter from the
company who has regularly sent us new subscribers:
Dear
Editors,
I have received this e-mail from Mike Hills, owner
of 10Dollars20ads.com. As an e-zine publisher and co-op operator
I found all of this to be very disturbing.
It appears that there is
yet another company who is working to shut down all e-zines, on-line
newsletters, e-mail marketing and any other form of legitimate e-marketing on
the internet. It appears to me, and is my opinion, that Habeas is making
a concerted effort to put us out of business and eliminate
our publications.
It is my opinion that this action being taken by
Habeas and other organizations like Spam-Cop and Spews are reminiscent of the
the early days of the internet when the intellectual snobs thought the
internet was ONLY for their use and the rest of us should just get off the
internet.
Time has proven them wrong. The internet is for every
human who wishes to participate. The internet is fast becoming a
shopping mecca for the entire world and is for businesses large and
small. When companies like Amazon can go from nothing to being one of the
largest distributor of goods on the internet, it shows us that all who wish
to work honestly on the internet can have a future as entrepreneurs.
Additionally, the internet is the only true vestige left where the free flow
of information remains untarnished. Habeas, in my opinion, is
attempting to control this and trample our 1st Amendment rights to freedom of
speech and freedom of the press. We Americans do not take our
rights lightly and will do whatever it takes to defend those
rights.
Please read the following e-mail from Mike Hill. I would
suggest that all who agree and feel that their businesses are at risk
and rights are being trampled join and write a small article to all your
subscribers to inform them of what is happening. Everyone's rights are
being trampled, including our subscribers and customers.
Best

Hi
Mike Hills here from http://www.10dollars20ads.com
By Now you should have heard about the threat to eZines and e- mail
marketing from a company called Habeas.
If not you can find details from
the links in the piece below.
A group of internet marketers currently
headed by the owner of http://www.MegaLists.net
Michael Yost, is being formed.
The aim of this group is to fight
the possible threat that Habeas poses.
The site is called " the Online

Hello Cat

With
the arrival of Spring, comes Easter and a warning - the ASPCA Animal Poison
Control Center, in partnership with the Cat Fanciers' Association, is leading
a nationwide campaign to warn cat owners about the dangers of Easter lilies
and certain other types of lilies.

Now that spring is finally arriving in
Canada, Simon Teakettle will soon return to his usual routine of going
outside in the back yard for an hour or two each afternoon.
The yard
is fenced, and although he can easily climb the chain link, he respects that
boundary and doesn't leave, enjoying instead the variety of terrain I've
managed to cram into a small suburban yard, including a rock garden, large
maple tree housing two nests of squirrels, a bird bath and several feeders,
and clumps of perennials.
His favorite spot is amongst the tall leaves
of the daylilies and iris in one planting bed, where he can hide to watch
birds at the dining room feeder.
I discovered this several years ago
when I went out to see how he was doing and he was nowhere in
sight.
I've trained Simon to "answer" when I call him, and
he's developed a delightful method of letting me know that he acknowledges
my call but isn't ready to come in. He comes over to the door, stopping a few
feet away, then just sit there, looking at me, as if to ask if he can stay
out longer. I usually acquiesce.
But one day I called and he didn't
appear. Worried, I called again. Then I heard the softest little chirp coming
from the daylilies. It's as if he was urging me not to reveal his
hiding place, and since he's a faithful bird-watcher who never hunts
his feathered friends, I backed away.
It's now our own special
secret.

All I Need to Know About Birthdays I Learned From
My Cat!
1. Be finicky - they'll try harder to please
you. 2. Give attitude - get attention. 3. If you don't like
your presents, SULK. 4. If you get bored at your party - just curl up
for a nap. 5. Don't stress out over your first grey whisker 6.
Act completely unimpressed by the presents you receive. 7. Remember, this is
your day, so if anyone bugs you, you're allowed to hiss and spit. 8.
Take the day off and lie in the sun. 9. Stay out on the prowl all night
long. 10. Demand only the most expensive fresh fish for dinner. 11. It's a
good day to shed your inhibitions. 12. Act catty - toy with your presents
before you tear them open. 13. Don't overdo it with the catnip or you'll
regret it in the morning. 14. If you aren't getting enough attention,
sharpen your claws on somebody's leg. 15. Don't let anything or anyone PUT
YOU OUT! 16. And remember...curiosity might kill you, but birthdays
won't!

Indeed, each

The good news is, we don't have to struggle
anymore. Life can and does become easier and far more enjoyable than any of

us take the first steps toward changing the focus of our attention and
changing how we interpret our interactions with others and how we choose to
respond to the events and situations of our lives.

Charles Schultz Philosophy.......
You don't actually
have to take the quiz. Just read the email straight through, and you'll get
the point (an awesome one) that it is trying to make!
Read this
quiz:
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world. 2. Name the
last five Heisman trophy winners. 3. Name the last five winners of the Miss
America contest. 4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer
prize. 5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best
actor and actress 6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series
winners.
How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the
headliners of yesterday.
These are no second-rate achievers.
They
are the best in their fields.
But the applause dies. Awards tarnish.
Achievements are forgotten.
Accolades and certificates are buried with
their owners.
Here's another list of ??s.. See how you do on this
one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school. 2.
Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time. 3. Name
five people who have taught you something worthwhile. 4. Think of a few
people who have made you feel appreciated and special. 5. Think of five
people you enjoy spending time with. 6. Name half a dozen heroes whose
stories have inspired you.
Easier?
The lesson:
The people
who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most
credentials, the most money, or the most awards.
They are the ones that
care.
Pass this on to those people who have made a difference in
your life.

Greetings,
Many years ago,
someone told me that the key to success is not doing something big or
spectacular, but doing the little things extraordinarily well.
When we
think of Olympic athletes, it's tempting to pretend that they are somehow
"different." We tell ourselves they were born with incredible strength
or unusual talent, or had training that we could never get for
ourselves. We look at Michael Jordon in sports, or we compare ourselves
to Barbra Streisand as an entertainer, and say, "I could never do
that."
While there is truth in acknowledging their incredible
talent, there is also a lie in pretending that because we don't have their
genetic gifts, we are somehow excused from the necessity of doing our
best.
That is simply not true!
The vast majority of highly
successful people, in any area of life, are simply those who worked a bit
harder, stayed a bit longer, and did a bit more.
The highest paid
people in any industry earn many times more than the average income. Is
that because they are 100 times smarter? Are they 50 times more
ambitious? Do they work 20 times harder or do they have more hours in a
day? Of course not!
The highest paid, most successful people do the
little things extremely well. They remember the details, acknowledge
their friends, and they keep their promises. They return phone
calls on time. They remember to say "Please" and "Thank You!,"
and they smile. They get to work just a bit earlier, make one or two
more calls or stay just a bit later at the end of the day.
The simple
truth is this: They go the extra mile, and it makes
a difference.
They take care of the "little things", and the
difference is reflected in their paychecks!
What opportunities do you
have to improve your performance by just 1 percent this week? It's
called the "1 Percent Solution", And over time, it makes all the
difference!

Daily Lift #235 - Who Is An Honorable Person?
A major underlying issue in
many quarrels is that people feel that someone else didn't treat them with
the proper respect. The specific details of the quarrel are trivial compared
to the fundamental need to be treated with respect.
"Who is an
honorable person?" ask the Sages (Pirkei Avos 4:1). "The one who shows honor
and respect to others." That is, your honor and respect does not depend on
how others treat you. Rather, the more honor and respect that you express to
others, the more honorable you yourself are. We all want to be
treated with basic respect. And as we internalize the essential message of
the Sages, we will decrease our concern about how others treat us and we will
increase our concern about how we treat others.

Hi CWA member:
I just learned about
CWA and I am joining. I am a writer with a just published novel called
Catland (learn more about me at www.davidgarrettizzo.comand see
the great cover).
For all the cats who think they are lions and all the
cat lovers who believe their cats are mystical, magical, and
heroic:
Catland is a fable for all ages about mystic and mythic
heroic cats the size of lions in a time before time when these cats
were the gifted species and humans were newcomers. Catland is a parable of
goodness adapted from the sweetest essence of mystical philosophy. Catland is
about friendship and loyalty, love and devotion, heroism and sacrifice, and
lessons for Huxley, Maximus and Princess when they are kittens early in the
story as taught by the great sage Gerald, who is the ancient friend of
the mystical eagle and leader of Eagleland, Wystan the Wise. When
the kittens become adults and Catland's leaders, they face the threat of
the evil human Reltih who wishes to rule the world. The lessons are about
life and educate the young and old. Tears will flow when the orphan, Maximus,
becomes Catland's greatest warrior and defends his adopted home from the
enemy. And while he does he anguishes that he has lost Princess to his best
friend Huxley, a love he never reveals but that he gives to their son
Matthias.
